Human Resources Administrator

I am a graduate from Rio Hondo High School in which I take great pride in. After High School, I attended the University of Texas in Brownsville where I received a Bachelors of Science in Education with a major in Mathematics and a minor in English. I continued my education and received a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in mathematics. I completed the coursework for a doctorate in curriculum and instruction followed by a superintendent certification. I taught mathematics for ten years to middle and high school students in which I have a great passion for their success.

A new chapter began when I became an elementary instructional facilitator where I was able to appreciate all of the critical foundational skills necessary for secondary success. I was able to work side by side with teachers where we analyzed data and broke down the TEKS for student mastery. I then journeyed into Middle School as Dean of Instruction for math and science, Math District Administrator, and then a Principal at the Rio Hondo Intermediate.

My current position as Human Resources has been an extraordinary experience where I have been able to work with district personnel and ensure students have content certified teachers in the classroom. I am currently the District STEM administrator in which a background in mathematics allows me to appreciate the benefits of STEM as a critical tool in the classroom and to a students’ future. As a student in Rio Hondo ISD, I aspired to be a teacher and took a course called TAFE in high school that provided me hands-on teacher experiences and practices. After reaching my goal, I am able to appreciate the benefits of career and technical education. I aspire for students of Rio Hondo ISD to also have experiences in career pathways they desire to achieve as well as provide them the skills and experiences necessary to make their dream a reality.
